Katica, a single mother of fourteen small children, and her two homeless brothers, soldiers of war-torn Yugoslavia, are trapped in deprivation, poverty, and loneliness. Yet, their hearts are pure, and within them live love and joy, as they perform a solitary dance, hoping their dreams and prayers will be fulfilled. Their journey makes us ponder whether life’s obstacles have shaped us or were created for us.
The documentary film “I am Number” is part of the documentary-experimental trilogy Lex Homeless, also directed by Zoran Tairovic.

2021 – 67/68 Martovski festival, Belgrade, Serbia – The jury of the 67/68th Martovski Festival awarded a special recognition to the film “I Ništa,” by Zoran Tairović (Serbia, 2020). Explanation: Characters and fragments of a Roma family saga, expressively filmed. A tangle of poverty, despair, and the worries of two brothers, ruined by destitution and alcohol. Worries for their sister, who bears children year after year. And then she appears before the camera and speaks about herself, her children, and the fathers of those children. We listen to, probably, the most powerful monologue ever in domestic cinema.
2021 – 8th Mister Vorky festival, Ruma, Serbia – Award 9413 for the Best short film
