The series “Pre-premiere” is conceived to feature one play in each episode, from its inception through rehearsals to its premiere. Although the series was never realized, this is a trailer for the play “Laka Mala” from the Novi Sad Theatre, directed by Radoslav Milenković. “Laka Mala” is a well-known Budapest operetta from the early 20th century. It is a story about love, the desire for fame and recognition. It’s about a girl who is willing to do anything to reach the top. Although the original text by László Szilágyi is set in Budapest, the director transforms this almost naturalistically depicted environment into a typical setting of Yugoslavia in the 1960s, with workers, people on the brink of financial crisis, cheerful neighborhood characters, and individuals with unfulfilled dreams. To evoke the atmosphere of the 1960s, rearranged music by Béla Zerkovitz in the style of urban street ballads of the era will be used, arranged by David Klemm.
