Bora and Eržika, a pair of eagles in the north of Vojvodina’s Banat, are all that is left of the Eastern imperial eagle in Serbia today. The sacred bird, the symbol of the national coat of arms and the centuries-old inspiration of our people, was silently disappearing from these climates due to human carelessness. Even today, their fate is not guaranteed: every day we can lose them due to poisons that threaten not only wild animals, but also us, humans. The Society for the Protection and Study of Birds of Serbia works tirelessly to find out who poisons animals in Serbia, why it happens and how to stop this cruel and dangerous phenomenon.
