What did the Danube once look like? Can you imagine the vast expanses of oak and willow forests below the canopy of intertwined river islands, bays, swamps and ponds? In its course of nearly 3000 km, the Danube has preserved its old face in only a few places. The nature reserve “Gornje Podunavlje” preserves it – the forgotten face of the Danube.
